5 Fun TV Shows to Watch With Your Roommate

By Alyssa Laffitte on January 27, 2018

One of the easiest ways to bond with your roommate is to find something you have in common with them. What better thing to have in common than a favorite TV show? When you and your roommate are not busy, you can bond by finding a new favorite TV show to watch together. Here is a list of TV shows that will be fun to watch with your roommate.

“Stranger Things”

This show has something for everyone. For those who grew up in the ‘80s, they will hear familiar songs and other references from that time period. There is fantasy/superhero aspect for those who enjoy Marvel TV shows or fantasy shows like “Doctor Who.”

Another reason to watch “Stranger Things” is because you will be able to bond with people over it. It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t seen “Stranger Things,” so if you’re ever stuck in a place where you don’t know anyone, it’s easy to strike up a conversation by asking them if they’ve seen it. Or, when you overhear other people talking about it, you can chime in. Plus, it’s a very easy show to binge watch. You don’t need to wait a week for the next episode to come out because all the episodes are available on Netflix!

If you’re looking for a show to binge watch with your roommate over a weekend, consider watching “Stranger Things”!

“The Flash”

Like “Stranger Things,” “The Flash” is one of today’s most popular TV shows, so you can talk about it with many people. Also like “Stranger Things,” it has something for everyone. It’s funny, dramatic, romantic, action-packed, and just plain fun to watch. For those reasons, it’s my personal favorite TV show.

You don’t necessarily have to be a superhero or comic book fan to enjoy this show. You don’t even need to watch the other DC Comics shows (like “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” or “Legends of Tomorrow”) to understand “The Flash.”

Before you know it, you’ll fall in love with the characters and the storyline, and be hooked on the show! The only downside is that it is still currently on TV, so you will have to wait a week until the next episode comes out (and with a show like this one, it’s hard to do that!). Previous seasons are on Netflix, though.

If you’re looking for a fun show to watch, go for The Flash!

“Once Upon a Time”

If your roommate loves Disney and fairytales, “Once Upon a Time” would be a great show to watch! It’s like a Disney show for those who love fairy tales but aren’t kids anymore. Yes, it’s about fairy tales and it has your typical cheesy “true love,” “save the day,” and “magical” elements (after all, it was made by ABC, which is owned by Disney). But it also has action, romance, and drama that everyone can appreciate.

This show has already been on the air for six seasons, so there are plenty of episodes to binge watch on Netflix. The show changes a lot throughout those seasons, but it just keeps getting better until the seventh and current season.

“Once Upon a Time” is a fun show to binge watch if your roommate loves Disney and fairy tales.

“The Crown”

If your roommate is into history, they will love “The Crown.” This Netflix show follows the life of a young Queen Elizabeth II as she grows up and ascends to the throne. It is not only an aesthetically pleasing show, but it is pretty historically accurate (for being a TV show).

To fully enjoy this show, you need to pay attention to the dialogue, because this show is more focused on drama rather than action. It’s not a show that you can watch while doing work, because you can miss an important line and get completely confused.

If you have a good amount of time and a roommate who is into British history, you can watch “The Crown”!

“The Bachelor”

“The Bachelor” is another one of those shows that you can talk to almost anyone about, since so many people watch it. Sometimes, you just need to watch a good dramatic, romantic reality TV show, and “The Bachelor” will help you get your fill of drama, romance, and reality TV. It’s a great show to watch with a group of people so you can discuss it with each other.

If you’re looking for a show to get your group of girls together every week, “The Bachelor” is the show for you!

If you want to bond with your roommate, try watching a new TV show together! Watching a fun TV show and talking about it is a great way to get closer to your roommate.
